Dr. Hans-Georg Fleck
Born in 1953 (Trier/Germany), he studied Medieval, Modern and Eastern European History, Political Science and Scandinavian Languages at the universities of Bonn, Würzburg and Cologne. He holds a Ph.D. of Cologne University presenting his dissertation on German trade union history. Starting in 1991, he worked as Project Director for Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Poland, afterwards in the West Balkan (predominantly Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina), and in Israel/Palestine.
He is married and the father of three (adult) children.
Since July 2012, he is the head of the foundation's Istanbul Office for Turkey.
Born in 1986 in Aydın, she studied International Relations and EU in Izmir University of Economics. She holds a Master Degree in Advanced European and International Studies from Istanbul Bilgi University and European Institute. Formerly, she worked in Spanish Embassy, ARI Movement and Istanbul Aydin University. Since March 2013, she has been working in FNF.
Born 1981 in Istanbul, Aret Demirci studied Regional Sciences of Latin America at the University of Cologne and at the Pontifical Catholic University of Buenos Aires. As an exchange student he spent half a year at the University of Salamanca/Spain. During his studies he focused on EU-Latin American relations. In his Diploma thesis he examined the perception of the EU in the MERCOSUR.
Elif Güney, originally from Turkey, holds her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science & International Relations from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey. For one year, she served as the representative of Bogazici University at the Association of International Relations Studies for Turkey (IRST). Also, she contributed to the foundation of Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) at IRST. During her sophomore and junior years, she was the member and director of Bogazici University Center for European Studies Student Forum, under the aegis of Center for European Studies, the first Jean Monnet Center of Excellence in Turkey. As a senior student, she spent one semester in Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain as part of Erasmus+ program. Before joining the Friedrich Naumann team, she facilitated the establishment of a youth NGO, namely Co-Opinion which is the youth network in order to address the problems of youth in the Middle East and North Africa. She had a privilege to work as an intern in different institutions including Istanbul Policy Center, Bogazici University and the United Nations Development Programme. She is fluent in English; she knows intermediate level Spanish and learning Arabic.
